The Chrome Group had the pleasure of collaborating with Love Frankie and Talking Sticks to help deliver the YouTube Creators for Change event last year, aimed at inspiring young film makers and online influencers to eliminate hate by creating and sharing stories that promote respect, tolerance, diversity and inclusion.
In a recent press release YouTube outlined how they are equally focused on the task of combating terrorist content on YouTube. Their efforts include

‘Better detection and faster removal driven by machine learning, more experts to alert us to content that needs review, tougher standards for videos that are controversial but do not violate our policies, and more work in the counter-terrorism space’

We were thrilled to learn that as part of their early intervention strategy, individuals using inappropriate search terms and keywords will be redirected towards a playlist of curated YouTube videos that directly confront and debunk violent extremist messages, content which has been inspired by the Creator events around the world.

YouTube’s initiative and subsequent policies aimed at tackling these complicated issues is to be commended, especially as they continue to amplify YouTube voices speaking out against hate and radicalisation through the YouTube Creators for Change program.

We’re so proud to have played our small part in helping pull together the program for the event aimed at inspiring these content producers with a cause.  This is a cause we feel deeply about. #sharesomegood
